Media outlets are speculating on what might become of US climate policies in the face of Trump and have called on us to run the numbers on different scenarios.
The latest burst of stories has surrounded news that senior Trump officials are going to hold a meeting to settle the administration’s position on the Paris Agreement. There appears to be debate among senior White House advisors about whether to stick with the Paris Agreement or not. The debate among these advisers appears centered around whether multinational fossil fuel interests can count on having their interests represented by the US in the climate talks or not, while discussion about protecting US populations (and others) from climate change appears absent.
